Where has the TARDIS landed...Monday

It is Monday morning my time so I thought I would go ahead and post some pics to share. If you have a chance take a look at the others who are sharing as well.
So, [info]irrealia ,[info]ahedonia ,[info]who_in_whoville , and [info]zazie11 and I are swapping pictures of the areas that we live. Of course it is not limited to just where we live but also the surrounding areas that we reside in. So we are swapping pictures every Monday so take a look it is very cool to see.

This week the TARDIS has landed in two different locations;

The First is the beautiful location of Grayling, MI at the ancient Hartwick Pines Forest.

The second Location is the Lavender Farm located in Lenard, MI.

So take a moment and travel to a different location than your own and see the beauty that surrounds my home.

Hartwick Pines:  Here is a bit of history.  The Forest is near a logging camp and when the surveyors of the camp saw the beauty and enormity of the forest they changed to a a different location to harvest the lumber that so many wanted around 1914 because they thought it would be a travesty to destroy such a beauty of nature. The leader of the surveyors was named Hartwick which the forest was named after.

The Entrance to the Ancient Forest

The Loggers thought that the space was sacred because of it's beauty

So they the erected a chapel in the middle of the forest

The Morning sun just was beautiful coming through the trees

They were so tall that I felt dizzy when I looked up.

They esitmate that these trees are almost 300-400 years old

This is the bridge exiting the forest

Another ot the many trails that weaved throughout the forest

This was the lake at the end of the path pictured above.

The Lavender farm: A bit of history this farm was created by it's owner in memory of a child that was lost to her and in her mourning she received peace in the scent and the beauty of the lavender that is known as relaxing flower.

There was lavender as far as the eye could see and it smelled devine.

Bunches of Lavender that the owner had picked earlier.  I love the colors.

This is some of the Lavender that was planted for harvesting

This is the Road leading to the Lavender it was so beautiful to drive in.

So I hope you have enjoyed a bit of my home just as much as I did.

I am sure the city has it's own beauty.

If you are ever in MI come on over and I will bring you to as many forests as you wish to see.

It was fun and very relaxing but I am glad to be back home.

Your pictures brought back happy memories of being in Norfolk for me - not the same place, obviously, but there were beautiful woodlands and fields of lavender - so I can imagine the calm you felt.
Lovely pics btw; so thank you. :D

I am glad my pics brought you to some happy memories. When I look back at them I feel the same way.

The calmness I felt after walking through the forest was indescribable and after my trip to the lavender farm I felt just as calm.

Those pictures are so beautiful....

I really miss being able to just walk in the forest...

Walking in the forest, I think, is one of the more relaxing things a person can do.

The ancient forest was so amazing, I told my hubby if we lived closer I would walk through it every day.

Thank you very much I do love sharing my state with everyone. The beauty is always so relaxing for me I think that is one of the reasons I love camping so much

Oh, I could just smell the lavender... You would have been hard-pressed to drag me away from that spot!

If I didn't have four kiddos with me I think I would have sat in that lavender field all day. It was so wonderful and peaceful and the scent, OMG the scent was heavenly.

Wow. Where you live looks absolutely beautiful (and your pictures certainly show it off well), and it makes me want to take a trip out.

But I'm not sure if I could ever give up the fall foliage in the NE, or the maple syrup we produce, even if you do get the snow fall. Plus, y'know, who could give up mud season? ;)

[identity profile] heintz57.livejournal.com 2011-07-20 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
Got to love the mud season it is the best time to go hiking in the woods.

Well you don't have to come out permentely you can just come out for a visit.

I know in your neck of the woods you do make the best maple syrup, but nobody can beat the apple farms in my area.

These are such stunning places and the flowers are win!

I love those Lavender plants I wish I had so many in my own back yard. If I did I think I would be the most relaxed person on this earth.

oh what lovely calm pictures!

My lavender, sadly, seems to be dying very quickly. Kyoto is a total oven in the summer, and I guess it can't handle that...

I really don't know how the owner of the Lavender farm keeps her plants going. The are so beautiful.

I felt very calm when walking through that forest.
